Vivo is a Chinese electronics company headquartered in Dongguan, founded by Shen Wei in 2009. Vivo is a smartphone, software and phone accessories brand owned by BBK Electronics. The Vivo X1, the first smartphone with an integrated hi-fi audio amplifier, was the company’s entry into the Indian smartphone market in 2012. In 2014, India saw the release of the Vivo X5 Max, which was the thinnest smartphone available at the time.
As a company, Vivo sponsors several international sporting events. The company signed a two-year contract in 2015 to be the title sponsor of the Indian Premier League (IPL) starting in 2016. When the contract was renewed in 2017, the sponsorship was extended to 2022.
In the same year, the company signed a deal with FIFA to become the official smartphone brand sponsor of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups. The company also took on the role of title sponsor of the Pro Kabaddi League in India.
Vivo is at the forefront of technological advancement in the smartphone industry, much like its sister company Oppo. The in-display fingerprint sensor technology was first offered by this smartphone maker, but later adopted by the majority of smartphone manufacturers.
With the release of the Vivo Nex in 2018, the company was also the first to use a motorised pop-up camera module in smartphones. In 2019, the company unveiled the Nex Dual Display prototype with an additional OLED panel on the back. Although the phone was only a prototype and never went on sale, it seemed to appeal to tech fans.
As a result, Vivo has developed a new model of its smartphone series to set itself apart from its rivals which is Vivo X90 Pro.
Introduction to Vivo X90 Pro
Still, some features set the Vivo X90 Pro apart and make it worth a look. It has its own display and image coprocessor, the Vivo V2, and is one of the few phones with MediaTek’s top-tier Dimensity 9200 CPU. The primary camera’s blazing 1-inch IMX989 sensor, the biggest sensor ever seen in a mobile phone, makes the device even more intriguing.
The biggest drawback of the Vivo X90 Pro is that you have to import it if you want to use it in the US. Officially, you can only buy the X90 Pro in Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Thailand and Malaysia. By the end of March 2023, the Vivo X90 Pro should be available in some European countries, including Germany. The Vivo X90 Pro costs 5,000 Malaysian ringgit in this country, which is about 1,110 US dollars or 1,050 euros.
In terms of design, the Vivo X90 Pro stands out from the competition. The back can be finished in either black or red vegan leather.
vivo X90 Pro Features:
The design has a heavily curved screen, which the rest of the industry is turning away from, and an equally curved front and back. The X90 Pro isn’t always a drawback. The display is a 6.78-inch 120 Hz OLED panel with a minimum resolution of 2800 x 1260 pixels and a maximum resolution of 1080p.
The curved screen and textured leather back make the phone slim and comfortable to hold. I haven’t worried about dropping a phone without a cover in a long time.
Unquestionably, MediaTek’s top Dimensity 9200 Processor and its proprietary V2 photography technology power the Vivo X90 Pro. The chip is responsible for offloading some of Mediatek’s tasks in driving the display as well as video and photo processing CPU. There is also 256 GB of storage and 12 GB of RAM.

Fast charging is undoubtedly the best feature of the Vivo X90 Pro. It comes with a matching charger in the package. The X90 Pro can fully charge you in less than 30 minutes at 120W. The battery can last more than a day with varied daily use, such as music and video streaming, occasional navigation and extensive scrolling and surfing on the Internet.
Instead of Qualcomm’s excellent third-generation 3D Sonic Max sensor, which the company used on last year’s model. Vivo has opted for an optical fingerprint sensor.
The sensor has a few useful tricks up its sleeve, aside from not blinding you with a bright light at night (which optical sensors have to do to detect fingers), such as the ability to launch user-selectable apps when you touch certain areas of the sensor. You can also log in with a tap of your finger, which the optical sensor unfortunately cannot do.
When not in use, the Vivo X90 Pro’s Funtouch OS 13 (based on Android 13) forcibly quits background activities, which leads to unexpected behaviour.
vivo X90 Pro Camera:
Vivo and the German photo agency Zeiss worked closely together to develop the camera system. On the rear, there are three cameras from Sony: a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera, a second 50-megapixel IMX758 portrait lens, and a 50-megapixel IMX989 camera with a 1-inch sensor.
A 32MP selfie camera is housed in a cutout in the centre of the front. Unlike the X80 Pro, however, the phone doesn’t have a periscope camera or a zoom lens with more than 2x magnification. It can take images that seem considerably more professional thanks to the 1-inch main sensor.
