Early Life
Palo Alto, California is the town where Teri Lynn Hatcher was born. Hatcher was the sole child of computer programmer Esther and nuclear physicist and electrical engineer Owen Walker Hatcher, Jr. Her parents moved to the neighboring Los Alto a few years after she was born, and she enrolled in ballet classes at the San Juan School of Dance. Following a few years in Los Alto, the family moved to Sunnyvale, where she went to Fremont High School, where she captained the Featurettes dance team, and Mango Junior High School.
Hatcher studied engineering and mathematics at De Anza College in Cupertino, California, continuing her parents’ educational path. Between 1985 and 1986, Hatcher began making appearances on television as Amy in “The Love Boat.” Three more years were spent in her television career. She made six appearances in the American action-adventure television series “MacGyver.” She also made a guest appearance in a 1990 “Murphy Brown” episode. Hatcher was cast as “Daily Planet” reporter Lois Lane in A.B.C.’s “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” from 1993 to 1997.
