Teri Hatcher Biography: American actress Teri Hatcher was born on December 8, 1964, and has gained international recognition for her captivating roles in a number of shows. Her two most well-known roles are as Lois Lane in the A.B.C. superhero series “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” and Susan Mayer in the comedy-drama “Desperate Housewives.” She was a math and engineering student when she went to Hollywood with a friend, hoping to give her some moral support for a casting call.

Nevertheless, she was cast for the part, and at age 21, she made her television debut in the hit show “The Love Boat” on ABC as a mermaid dancer. She has also penned a life story memoir.

Early Life

Palo Alto, California is the town where Teri Lynn Hatcher was born. Hatcher was the sole child of computer programmer Esther and nuclear physicist and electrical engineer Owen Walker Hatcher, Jr. Her parents moved to the neighboring Los Alto a few years after she was born, and she enrolled in ballet classes at the San Juan School of Dance. Following a few years in Los Alto, the family moved to Sunnyvale, where she went to Fremont High School, where she captained the Featurettes dance team, and Mango Junior High School.

Hatcher studied engineering and mathematics at De Anza College in Cupertino, California, continuing her parents’ educational path. She also began taking acting classes at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco at the same time. She finally abandoned her studies, though, in order to concentrate on acting.

Career

Between 1985 and 1986, Hatcher began making appearances on television as Amy in “The Love Boat.” Three more years were spent in her television career. She made six appearances in the American action-adventure television series “MacGyver.” She also made a guest appearance in a 1990 “Murphy Brown” episode. Hatcher was cast as “Daily Planet” reporter Lois Lane in A.B.C.’s “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” from 1993 to 1997.

A picture of Hatcher wearing a Superman cape during the height of the series in 1995 was the most downloaded image for a few months. Hatcher was cast as Paris Carver in the popular film “James Bond: Tomorrow Never Dies” shortly after, in 1997.

Due to her popularity and skill, Hatcher was nominated for numerous awards, including Best Supporting Actress (1998) for “Tomorrow Never Dies” and Best Actress in a Quality Drama Series (1994) for “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.” Hatcher’s most well-known television character is still “Desperate Housewives,” though.

She made her series debut in the pilot episode on October 3, 2004, and continued to appear in every episode until the series finale on May 13, 2012. She received three Screen Actors Guild awards, a Golden Globe, and a nomination for a Primetime Emmy for her performance.

Personal Life

In 1988, Hatcher wed Marcus Leithold; however, the pair separated a year later. She wed Jon Tenney in 1994, and the two had a daughter named Emerson Rose, who was born on November 10, 1997. But in 2003, the couple got divorced. Hatcher kept up her work in 2007 by contributing a column to the “Glamour” magazine. In addition to her skill and charm, Hatcher is a mother now and an inspiration to a lot of her fans.
