Fit India Week: Using the Week’s theme, “Fitness Ki Dose Adha Ghanta Roz,” the College of Nursing at Aligarh Muslim University organised a number of extracurricular activities for the nursing students, including physical competitions like the tug of war, musical chair, sac race and lemon race. Fit India Week is an opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of physical fitness.
Shams Nihal Nabi, Mohd. Jamid, and Mohd. Sohaib took first, second, and third place in the Lemon Race, respectively, while Shams Nihal Nabi, Aaron, and Mohd. Saif Khan took first, second, and third place in the Sac Race.
In the Needle and Thread Race, Kulsum Fatima, Farheen Khan, and Bushra took first, second, and third place, while Tanu and Lovey Goyal were proclaimed the first and second place winners in the Musical Chair.

During a felicitation programme, the recipients received their prizes from the chief guest, Prof. Naima Gulrez, Principal of the Women’s College. To stay in shape and stay healthy, she recommended everyone to really consider engaging in some outside activities and physical exercise.
The honorees included Prof. Salman Khalil (Department of Community Medicine), Prof. Abdul Alim (DSW), Prof. Wasim Ali (AMU Proctor), Dr. Ghulam Sarwar Hashmi (Chairman, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery), and Prof. Asad Ullah Khan (Director, IQAC and Coordinator, BIC-NNP).
Prior to greeting the visitors, Prof. Farha Azmi, Principal of the Nursing College, announced that the Fit India Movement was started in honour of National Sports Day in August 2019. It has quickly taken on a life of its own, inspiring Indians of all ages to embrace the spirit of staying in shape and well. It’s important to remember that success and physical fitness are linked, she said.
Geetika Pathak (IX-B) led a special theme-based assembly at AMU Girls’ School to commemorate “Fit India Week.” Amina Hasan (VII-D) gave a speech, while Divyashree Gupta (IX-E) read a poem she had written on her own. A commitment was conducted by Vice President Sadaf Naz (X-C) and President Yasha Ali Khan (X-C) of the Games Society.
