Ms. Ayesha Saubia, Mr. Ashwani Singh, and Ms. Yashika Arora, all of the Department of Biotechnology at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), have been awarded the prestigious Bayer Fellowship – “MEDHA” (2022-2023). The Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India is facilitating Bayer CropScience Limited’s MEDHA Fellowship Program. The selected students will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 20,000 for the duration of their two-year master’s programme.
The Vice Chancellor of JMI, Prof. Najma Akhtar, congratulated the successful students and wished them luck in their future endeavours.
“These students were chosen from hundreds of applicants based on their academic credentials and interview performances. I hope it will inspire other university students to perform better “said the Vice Chancellor.
The MEDHA fellowship combines annual financial support with the opportunity to receive mentorship from Bayer employees and industry professionals. Students from economically disadvantaged segments of society are awarded fellowships to pursue advanced degrees (Master’s and PhD) in the Life-sciences / Biotechnology / Pharma disciplines.
In addition, the students will have the opportunity to visit Bayer’s research laboratories, interact with industry experts, gain exposure, and expand their knowledge. The fellowship aims to facilitate the fellows’ achievement of their short- and long-term academic and professional objectives.
