Green Monday 2023: December 12 is Green Monday, the second Monday in December! This day isn’t about the environment, though you should still practice eco-friendliness; rather, it’s about all the last-minute shopping we’re all doing before Christmas truly arrives! Make room on your credit cards because you’re racing to the finish line!
The Green Monday History
When eBay was just 12 years old, it created this relatively new retail holiday to commemorate the month’s biggest online sales day. Due to impending deadlines for holiday shopping, the second Monday of December typically sees the highest sales activity of the month, hence the moniker “Green Monday.” It’s crucial if the gift you purchased requires at least 10 business days to arrive because it’s the final Monday with at least 10 days left before Christmas. On Green Monday, retailers frequently have some fantastic sales with prices that rival those of Cyber Monday and Black Friday.
Prominent retailers such as Walmart, Target, and Amazon participate in Green Monday. They can prolong the excitement surrounding Black Friday and the holiday shopping season by taking part. Because it’s the second biggest day for online shopping, there can be significant discounts. Some people even refer to it as Cyber Monday part 2. While most Baby Boomers prefer to shop in-store, Millennials and Gen Xers are the ones who use its online feature most frequently.
With less than two weeks until Christmas, shoppers are more willing to spend money, which is what the “green” in “Green Monday” stands for. There’s a rush of people to finish their holiday shopping lists on Green Monday, which leads to online sales. Though the day has never been as planned or advertised as Cyber Monday or Black Friday, many retailers have joined in on the holiday shopping frenzy by providing unbeatable discounts.

Why Green this day is Great
It comes to our rescue just in time.
Choosing the ideal gift is a challenging task. It’s so hard that we’d prefer to do it tomorrow. But eventually, tomorrow turns into “just a few days left until Christmas,” and we start to wonder where the time has gone. We can make amends for ourselves on Green Monday by getting deals on things that would have cost much more if we had shopped earlier. Everything turns out fine!
We can avoid fighting with crowds.
There are many things that I dislike about holiday shopping, including packed stores, disorganized shelves, and difficult parking spots. Since Green Monday is an online shopping day, stay in, cozy up, and get rid of a lot of stress!
It’s a warning that the holidays are almost here.
We often lose sight of time when we get caught up in the details of daily life. This week feels like last week, and Tuesdays feel like Thursdays. Green Monday helps us to stay grounded in time, even though Christmas feels like it’s coming right out of nowhere!
