The fan letter of George R.R. Martin
Before he became a best-selling novelist, Martin was a comic book fanatic as a teenager. He submitted a letter to Stan Lee and Don Heck in 1964. In his letter, he lauded the most recent issues of The Avengers and Fantastic Four, stating that he had “finally decided to mount them in bronze and place them on a pedestal in the middle of my living room.”

In 2011, the author of Where the Wild Things Are, Maurice Sendak, told NPR that a young reader once devoured one of his books. The small child had given Sendak a letter containing a wonderful painting, which Maurice adored. In response, he sent a card with a drawing of a Wild Thing and the message, “Dear Jim, I loved your card.” Soon thereafter, Sendak received a message from Jim’s mother stating, “Jim enjoyed your card so much that he ate it.”

infamous bandits Reportedly, Bonnie and Clyde’s favourite getaway vehicle was the V-8-powered Ford Model B. In reality, they killed in one after law enforcement authorities sprayed their stolen Ford with more than 130 rounds of bullets with steel jackets. Clyde wasn’t well-versed in writing, but between robberies, he took the time to send Henry Ford a letter praising the automobiles he manufactured.
