Bhai Dooj 2023: On the second day following Diwali festivities, Bhai Dooj or Bhaiya Dooj is celebrated. Women who don’t have brothers typically offer prayers to the moon in the states of Maharashtra and Haryana. Even sisters who have brothers who live far away from them send their brothers the most fervent prayers by worshipping the moon god. They offer aarti to the moon and make a wish for their brothers’ long lives. Because of this, Hindu youngsters also name the moon fondly “Chanda Mama,” where “mama” stands for the mother’s brother and “chanda” refers to the moon.

Mythical Belief
On this day in the past, Goddess Yamuna is said to have fed Yamraj at her residence. The Nar beings were freed from sin and torment after that day and were allowed to live in hell as they pleased.
