Coats and Toys for Kids Day 2023: Coats and Toys for Kids Day (C.T.K.D.) is held every year on the first Saturday of December. Today is about getting together with others to make the world a better place, even if it seems like nothing is going on. People give coats, boots, gloves, and other cold-weather gear, as well as toys, to families who qualify on C.T.K.D. This keeps kids warm and happy in the winter.
Coats And Toys For Kids Day’s History
Residents and companies in the area work with the Salvation Army every year to help families in need keep their kids warm by giving them winter coats and toys. The Salvation Army started the Coats for Kids program in 1983. The goal is for no child to go through the cold without a coat.
This holiday is brought to different states by the Salvation Army working with a number of neighborhood groups. They work hard to collect and give out clothes and toys to make people happy during the holidays, with the help of volunteers. For more than 30 years, thousands of winter clothing have been gathered and given to kids who need them. Every year, businesses and groups in the area take part in the effort to keep kids warm. People in the community are being asked to give winter coats that they no longer fit or have worn. There are gift boxes and drop-off spots set up to get people to give money. People give money to the Salvation Army, which then gives it to families in need.
C.T.K.D. shows how strong groups can be and what they can do when they work together. This program has given kids the confidence they need to do well in school and make friends. They are happy just knowing that there are people out there ready to help.
