UNICEF has made a significant contribution to humanitarian causes worldwide and still does. In 2018, it helped bring about 27 million births, immunized an estimated 65.5 million children with pentavalent vaccines, educated 12 million children, treated 4 million children suffering from severe acute malnutrition, and responded to 285 humanitarian crises across 90 countries.

UNICEF has won numerous awards for its humanitarian efforts, including the Princess of Asturias Award in 2006, the Indira Gandhi Award in 1989, and the Nobel Peace Prize in 1965. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, UNICEF, WHO, and other organizations released guidelines for good parenting.
